Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series smartwatches add battery protection: charging limit 90%

Technology media Android Authority published a blog post yesterday (July 17), reporting that Samsung has introduced a new "battery protection" function in the Galaxy Watch8 series of smartwatches to extend battery life.

The blog post introduced that in the previous model settings of Galaxy Watch8, the "Charging" option under the battery menu only included "Display charging information" and "Auto-start".

In the Galaxy Watch8 series, Samsung introduced a "battery protection" option, which is described as: "Stop charging when the power reaches 90%, and restart charging when the power is below 85%."

The media pointed out that this feature is crucial to extending the battery life of the Galaxy Watch smartwatch, because lithium-ion batteries may shorten their service life after being 100% charged for a long time.

On the phone side, the relevant functions are mainly limited to 80% power. Although the 80% limit is more beneficial to battery life, the battery capacity of smartwatches is smaller, so Samsung may not want to limit charging too much so as not to affect the user experience.
